Meet Douglas E. Kingsbery
Douglas Kingsbery is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and is the Past Chair of the North Carolina State Bar’s Criminal Law Specialty Committee that certifies all Criminal Law Specialists in the State of North Carolina. He holds an undergraduate degree from Duke University in Political Science and Religion and a law degree from Duke University School of Law. He has tried and won criminal jury trials in several counties across North Carolina as well as in the United States District Courts of North Carolina and has won criminal appeals in the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He has an extensive criminal tax defense practice, representing taxpayers against the Internal Revenue Service and the North Carolina Department of Revenue, and for several years, he has served on the faculty of the American Bar Association’s National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud.
Mr. Kingsbery has been married to his wife Katie since 1979. Together, they have raised three children, Russell, Kelsey and Web. The Kingsberys are active members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (ELCA) where Doug has served as President of the Church Council and as a Stephen Minister.
