On May 7, Neal Ramee gave a presentation at the North Carolina Bar Association’s annual Family Law Conference in Charleston, SC, entitled “The Law of School Assignment.” 

The presentation addressed the three main types of school assignment issues and how these issues relate to child custody orders, namely:

1. Whether a student has a right to attend school within a particular school district;
2. Which school or schools within the district the student has a right to attend; and
3. Who has the authority to request changes in school assignment on behalf of a student.
