Alice Stubbs recognized by Martindale Hubbell

The Raleigh law firm of Tharrington Smith LLP is pleased to announce that Family Law Partner, Alice C. Stubbs, has been recognized with Martindale Hubbell’s 2015 Client Distinction Award.

Alice C. Stubbs is a partner in the firm’s Family Law Section. She joined Tharrington Smith in 2006 after completing eight years as a Wake County District Court judge. First appointed in 1997 by Governor Jim Hunt, she was elected to the judgeship in 1998 and 2002. During her time on the bench, Ms. Stubbs presided in domestic court; was certified as a juvenile judge in 2001; and was designated as a family court judge from 2002 through 2005.

Ms. Stubbs has served on the Board of Directors for the Wake County Bar Association. In 2008, she served as the vice chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee for the Wake County Bar Association. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and served on its Litigation Section Council. She is a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Family Law and a Board Certified Family Financial Mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. Ms. Stubbs was appointed by Governor Mike Easley to serve on the North Carolina Ethics Commission, effective October 2006. She was reappointed to the Ethics Commission by Governor Perdue in January of 2010. She has been recognized by Business North Carolina magazine as one of the “Legal Elite” family law attorneys in North Carolina, as well as by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers North Carolina.
