Caitlin B. Birckhead Joins Tharrington Smith's Family Law Team

We are pleased to announce that Caitlin B. Birckhead has joined the firm’s family law team as a first-year associate.

Caitlin grew up in Lenoir, North Carolina. A Wake Forest University alumna all the way, Caitlin earned her Juris Doctor in 2019, a Master of Arts in Psychology in 2016, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Honors in 2014.

While attending law school, Caitlin served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board, Symposium Editor of the Wake Forest Journal of Law and Policy, was a student in the Child Advocacy Clinic and served as a family law research assistant for Dean Suzanne Reynolds. Caitlin was the recipient of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers’ North Carolina 2019 Outstanding Family Law Student Award and the 2019 North Carolina Advocates for Justice Most Outstanding Advocate Award from Wake Forest University School of Law.

Caitlin is a national member of the Order of the Barristers, having exhibited excellence and attained high honor through the art of courtroom advocacy. She is a member of the Wake County Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Caitlin enjoys swimming, reading, traveling, and exploring Raleigh with her dog, Josie Mae.
