Seeking out and following sound legal advice as soon as she became aware that criminal investigators were examining her tax practice may have saved a North Carolina tax preparer from criminal prosecution. Investigators notified the preparer this week that after a nearly 10 month investigation, they had decided to drop the case without bringing criminal charges.
The tax preparer was represented in the investigation by Douglas E. Kingsbery and Derick R. Vollrath of Tharrington Smith, L.L.P. in Raleigh, North Carolina.
