Special Agents from the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS have notified a North Carolina businessman that they are closing their investigation without referring criminal charges. The businessman had failed to timely file business and personal income tax returns for several years, and had failed to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal taxes.
The taxpayer was represented during the criminal investigation by Douglas E. Kingsbery of Tharrington Smith, L.L.P. in Raleigh, North Carolina.
