Felony Charges Dropped to Misdemeanors on Eve of Trial

A North Carolina businessman who was set to begin a jury trial on Monday, April 21, 2014 on charges of felony embezzlement of State and County sales taxes was granted a last second reprise when the State elected to dismiss the felony charges in exchange for a misdemeanor plea.  The man agreed to repay the money and received a suspended sentence.
