Lynn Burleson Receives Leaders in the Law Award

We are pleased to announce that Lynn P. Burleson has been honored with the 2016 Leaders in the Law award. Bestowed jointly by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly and Elon University, the award is celebrating its sixth anniversary.

Mr. Burleson is one of 34 honorees for 2016, who have been chosen for their “above and beyond” service to their profession and community. Leaders in the Law judges are an independent panel of lawyers from various practice and geographic areas. Nominees are judged based on nominations coupled with an individual review process. The 2016 Leaders in the Law awards ceremony will take place on September 23 in Raleigh.

Mr. Burleson has represented North Carolina on the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is Chair Emeritus of the national AAML Arbitration Committee of that organization. He was instrumental in the creation of the North Carolina Family Law Arbitration Act, which has been used as a model for other states and by the AAML. A North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section Distinguished Service Award winner, Mr. Burleson is a Diplomate of the select American College of Family Trial Attorneys, an honor held by only 100 lawyers nationally. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, a certified Family Financial Mediator, and an AAML Certified Arbitrator. Mr. Burleson has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1995 and is routinely included on the annual list of North Carolina Super Lawyers.
