North Carolina Businesswoman Escapes Criminal Prosecution for Tax Evasion

The IRS announced today that it would not seek criminal charges against a North Carolina businesswoman who had successfully evaded income taxes on more than $100,000 she had skimmed from her business over the past two years.  Facing a routine audit of the business, the taxpayer and her attorney successfully pursued a strategy of voluntarily revealing the wrongdoing and negotiating a civil settlement.
