Biography

Clare Poston is an associate attorney at Tharrington Smith practicing in the area of family law. In her practice, Clare represents clients in all matters related to divorce, child custody, child support, equitable distribution, alimony, and domestic violence.

Clare graduated cum laude from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in 2023 after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Journalism from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2015. While at Campbell, Clare served as the Symposium Editor for the Law Review, a managing partner for the Domestic Violence Advocacy Project (DVAP) and was heavily involved in the Restorative Justice Clinic.

Prior to joining Tharrington Smith in 2023, Clare worked as a legal intern for the Wake County Public Defender’s Office-Juvenile Court and the Wake County District Attorney’s Office. She also served as a law clerk for Judge Lucy Inman at the North Carolina Court of Appeals and spent two summers at Tharrington Smith as a summer associate.

Outside of work, Clare is an avid traveler who enjoys pickleball, running, skiing, hiking, and trying new restaurants. She loves spending time with her husband, two kids and their springer spaniels.
