Jason Weber is a partner in Tharrington Smith’s Education Law section and a dedicated advocate for public education. As a former teacher, he brings firsthand experience to his legal practice, advising public school districts on a broad spectrum of issues, including Board governance, legislative analysis, policy development, contracts and procurement, public records and open meetings laws, student discipline, personnel matters, and special education. He also serves as Board Attorney for two Boards of Education.

Jason earned his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2013 and holds a degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Management from Hope College in Michigan. Before pursuing a legal career, he taught 5th grade at Clark Street Elementary in Vance County, an experience that deepened his commitment to supporting educators and school systems. Prior to joining Tharrington Smith in 2018, he served as associate counsel and interim general counsel for the North Carolina State Board of Education.

Jason lives in Durham with his wife, two daughters, and rescue dog. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, cooking, listening to music, and staying active—whether running, exploring the outdoors, or simply spending quality time with his family.
