Meet Micah Deveaux
Micah Deveaux is an associate in the Education Law section at Tharrington Smith. He was born and raised in Goose Creek, South Carolina, just outside of Charleston, and brings a personal perspective to his practice shaped by his mother’s long career in education and his brother’s experience living with muscular dystrophy. Micah earned his B.S. in Political Science from Charleston Southern University, where he was a member of the Track & Field team as a long jumper and served as Student Body Vice President during the 2018–2019 academic year. He went on to earn his J.D. from William & Mary Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court Team and participated in the Faculty Summer Writing Program. During law school, he also interned with the Steinberg Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina.
Following graduation, Micah clerked in the Fourteenth Circuit of South Carolina under Judge Carmen T. Mullen before relocating to Raleigh, where he clerked at the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings under Judges Bawtinhimer, Byrne, and Nelson. He later served as an Assistant Attorney General with the North Carolina Department of Justice, representing the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in licensure matters involving adult care homes and mental health facilities.
Outside of his practice, Micah enjoys staying active through sports, spending time with his dog, exploring Raleigh with his wife and friends, hiking, and reading fiction.
