Tharrington Smith Education Law attorney Kathleen Tanner Kennedy recently spoke about Risk Management to the North Carolina School Business Officials in Greensboro, NC. This organization, according to its charter, is dedicated to ensuring that personnel in all areas of financial operation for public schools across North Carolina proactively build leadership skills and continuously strive to advance public education while demonstrating fiscal accountability and integrity.
A member of the Tharrington Smith Education Law group, Kennedy reminded the audience that with diligent risk management strategies, school systems are able to ensure they maintain a focus on their educational priorities. “Risk management is important for school systems because it allows them to preserve their resources for what matters most – improving learning outcomes of children,” said Kennedy. “Without effective risk management, school systems end up spending scarce time and money on lawsuits and liability matters.”
Speaking at conferences such as the NC School Business Officials is nothing new for Tharrington Smith attorneys. Recently fellow Education Law partner Trey Allen spoke at the 46th School Attorney’s Conference held at the UNC School of Government in Chapel Hill. Recognized by their peers as leaders in the field of Education Law, Tharrington Smith attorneys are often requested for speaking engagements on this important area of the law.
