Tharrington Smith founding partner Wade Smith delivered the keynote address at the Legal Aid of North Carolina’s April 25th luncheon. In his remarks he highlighted the importance of continuing to give back to the community and to assist those in need.
“Who am I to suggest a new covenant? But I suggest we make a covenant that we will not fail these people who need us,” he said. “Our profession is a great one. There are poor people out there who need our help. So I suggest that you join me in a covenant to take care of this problem. So help us, we will take care of it.”
This sentiment was echoed by the other speakers at the luncheon and reinforces the mission of Legal Aid to provide equitable access to legal services for all North Carolinians, regardless of means. The luncheon itself was hosted by Legal Aid of North Carolina to thank several law firms statewide for their help in raising nearly $185,000 to benefit Legal Aid and the Charlotte-based Legal Services of Southern Piedmont.
