Jaye Meyer Elected Chair of NC Board of Law Examiners

The firm is pleased to announce that family law section partner, Jaye Meyer, has been named Chair of the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners. Ms. Meyer will take office on October 31, 2015.

The North Carolina Board of Law Examiners creates the rules and regulations governing admission to practice in the state, examines applicants, and issues law licenses. Members of the Board of Law Examiners are elected by the North Carolina State Bar Council. The Board of Law Examiners is responsible for ensuring that applicants to the bar posses the qualifications of character and general fitness requisite for an attorney and counselor at law. Ms. Meyer was originally elected to the Board of Law Examiners in 2007.

A 1990 graduate of University of North Carolina School of Law, Ms. Meyer is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, a Certified Family Financial Mediator, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She has previously served as a member of the Family Law Council and Chair of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. She is past chair of the Family Law Specialization Committee of the North Carolina State Bar, and is the 2008 recipient of the Howard L. Gum Service Award for her dedication to family law specialization in the state. She is past Chair of the Family Law Continuing Legal Education Curriculum Committee, and is a frequent speaker and course planner at CLE programs across North Carolina.
