Raleigh, N.C., May 11,  2023 – Tharrington Smith, LLP is pleased to recognize longtime partner Ken Soo, currently of counsel in the firm’s Education Law practice, recipient of the 2023 Ann L. Majestic Distinguished Service Award. This accolade is presented by the Education Section of the American Bar Association to a lawyer who has shown exceptional leadership in the field of education law in North Carolina. 

The Ann L. Majestic Distinguished Service Award was established in 1990 and renamed in 2014 in honor of the late Ann Majestic. As a Tharrington Smith partner, Ann Majestic dedicated her life and career to furthering North Carolina education through the provision of excellent legal guidance to public schools.

“Ann Majestic was one of the finest lawyers I have known and embodied school law in North Carolina,” Ken Soo says. “It is humbling to receive the award that bears her name. Thank you to my colleagues and clients for this honor.”

Soo was presented with the award on April 14, 2023, by colleague Carolyn Murchison. Since joining Tharrington Smith in 1994, he has received numerous honors for his work, including multiple recognitions on the Best Lawyers in America® list. The Ann L. Majestic Distinguished Service Award adds another landmark to an already outstanding career.
