North Carolina Business Man Acquitted of Tax Evasion

A North Carolina business man who had been charged with three counts of tax evasion (26 U.S.C. § 7201) and three counts of filing false tax returns (26 U.S.C. § 7206), was found not guilty on all counts today in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. The case, which was tried over several weeks, involved allegations of fraudulent tax shelters and overseas bank accounts.
