Fifty-five years ago, Harold Tharrington and Wade Smith hung a shingle and the Tharrington Smith firm was born. We celebrate the firm’s anniversaries because we have been fortunate to help people from every walk of life with legal matters of every size, shape, and kind year in and year out. Our legacy is built on devotion to excellence to our clients, to our lawyers, and to our staff.

We have been privileged to watch the firm become a place people want to be, where lawyers and staff alike have come to spend their entire careers. We see our people gathered in camaraderie, sharing things from their personal lives with us and with one another, and laughing. We have worked to make our firm a vibrant and happy place and have had the honor of watching people grow personally and professionally. We have celebrated successes, mourned losses, and grown stronger with one another through each passing day. Co-founding partner Wade Smith, who has been practicing law for nearly 60 years says, “We hope to do this for another 55 years” and adding with a chuckle, “but then we might need to take a break.”
