Virginia Man Gets Probation in Long-Running Tax Evasion Scheme

A Virginia man was sentenced to probation earlier this month after admitting to having evaded more than $1 million in income taxes since 1994. The sentence was handed down by a Federal District Judge sitting in the Eastern District of Tennessee. The Judge stated that ordinarily, he would order a substantial prison sentence for this offense, but that in this case, he was persuaded that a probationary sentence was appropriate.

The Defendant was represented by Douglas E. Kingsbery and Derick R. Vollrath of Tharrington Smith, L.L.P. in Raleigh, North Carolina.
