February 8, 2012 – Raleigh-based arts-education organization Arts Together has named Tharrington Smith partner and founder Wade Smith as a recipient of their first annual Arts Together Award.
Most often recognized for his accomplishments an attorney, Smith has also been an active musician, writer, storyteller and visual artist for many years. His works have been shown most recently in a gallery retrospective at Mahler Fine Art, an installation at the North Carolina Bar Building, and many of his works are featured in the offices of the Tharrington Smith firm offices in Raleigh. The arts are an important outlet for the litigator who believes that artistic representation demands the same considerations of context, characteristics, motivation and medium that impact the outcome of legal cases.
“I am deeply honored by this kind gesture,” says award-recipient Wade Smith. “When my wife Ann and I brought our family to Raleigh, we found a wonderful array of people who loved the arts. Arts Together is a great representation of that passion.”
In its inaugural year, the Arts Together Awards are given in recognition of individuals, businesses or organizations in the community that exemplify the Arts Together mission, to make the arts a part of everyone’s life. Other recipients of this year’s awards include, the City of Raleigh, Progress Energy, and individuals Glenda Mackie, and Michelle Pearson. An awards ceremony will be held on February 23, 2012 at the First Citizens Center on Six Forks Road in Raleigh.
