Biography

Jack is an associate in the Education Law section at Tharrington Smith. He grew up in Winston-Salem, NC, influenced by his father, a public-school teacher, and graduated from the local public school system. He attended Davidson College, earning a double major in English and Political Science. After graduation, Jack joined the College Advising Corps, where he worked at a public high school in the Charlotte area, helping students from low-income and first-generation backgrounds navigate college admissions and financial aid, and also coached the tennis team.

Jack then pursued his J.D. at the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill, graduating with honors. While at UNC, he served as Executive Forum Editor of the North Carolina Law Review, worked as a research assistant in education law, and participated in the Pro Bono Program. He also mentored first-year students as an Honors Writing Scholar and gained practical experience as a student practitioner in the Civil Legal Assistance Clinic. Jack interned with Tharrington Smith and The Van Winkle Law Firm and worked with the North Carolina Department of Justice.

Outside of work, Jack enjoys playing and reading about tennis, hitting the trails for a run, discovering new breweries with friends, and indulging in TV dramas.
